Abstract
Pregnancy in end-stage renal failure treated with chronic dialysis is unusual event. Recently, although hemodialysis, CAPD and renal transplantation can lean to expand the life span and increase the life span and increase the life quality, the
reproductive capacity of CRF patient is still poor . Women dependent upon dialysis before conception or during the gestation rarely achieve a successful live birth. In 1992, the EDTA registry re-ported that a bercentage of 88.4 of the babies was
born to
mothers with a functioning graft, 11.2% to mothers on chronic hemodialysis and the remaining 0.4% to mothers on CAPD Birthweight was reduced in accordance with gestational age. Newborn mortali-ty was 1.8%. In 1992, we experienced a 25-year-old
woman on
CAPD became pregnant and had a nor-mal spontaneous vaginal delivery at 37 weed's gesta-tion The birth weight was 2.1kg and APGAR scores were 7 and 9 at I and 5 minutes, respectively. At that time, she did not have any modicai problem be-fore and
after
delivery.
The woman we mentioned above became pregnant again and had a normal spontaneous vaginal delivery with a healthy male infant at 33 weed's ges-tation. The patient required hospitalization during the 29th gestational week due to CAPD peritonitis and
premature labor. We were able to prolong and main-tain the gestation by intensive monitoring and care-ful treatment. His birth weight was 1.28kg and APGAR scores were 7 and 8 at I and 5 minutes, respectively. her children are well being grown up
without
medical and surgical complications.
In this paper we describe the two successful preg-nancy in succession in a patient undergoig CAPD.
